Table With Crossed Legs Too

CNC routed phenolic faced spruce ply
Dimensions: 1000 x 690 x 320mm

The 'table with crossed legs too' is a rectangular coffee table whose legs are formed from two pieces of plywood slotted together to create a X. The table is assembled from parts which are all cut from a sheet of laminate faced plywood by a CNC router, and is held together by fixings which draw the legs against the rails slotted to the underside of the table top.

The ‘table with crossed legs too’ is a reworking of my first ever furniture design project. The change from laser cutting to CNC routing productionis a attempt to improve some of the tolerance and production issues which existed previously. The new cutting method had necessitated a reassessment of the jointing connection of the various parts, but despite an apparently complex cutting pattern the final piece reveals no indication of it’s the production method, thus creating a somewhat more subtle and less expressive version of the original.
